All creatures discussed thus far mark their beginning and end with templates. They then locate the addresses of the two templates and determine their genome size by subtracting them. In one run, creatures evolved without a template marking their end. These creatures located the address of the template marking their beginning, and then the address of a template in the middle of their genome. These two addresses were then subtracted to calculate half of their size, and this value was multiplied by two (by shifting left) to calculate their full size.
