Jan Hauser presented Sun's project DOE and the Object Management Groups (OMG) CORBA technology. There may be some future interest in using DOE/CORBA as a ``rendezvous'' and management device for all the world-wide Tierra users. OMG/CORBA is designed specifically for the design, creation, debugging and administration of (Globally) Distributed, Heterogeneous, Object Oriented Applications
The current network Tierra prototype also has performance problems on unix because of polling problems. Jan suggested a two-process architecture that should overcome this problem. This general solutions has been under consideration and will likely be adopted for the unix version.
