Organized sexuality is important to the evolutionary process. It is the basis of the species concept, and while remaining something of an enigma in evolutionary theory, clearly is an important facilitator of the evolutionary process. Yet this kind of sexuality still has not been implemented in a natural way in synthetic life systems. It is important to find ways of orchestrating organized sexuality in synthetic systems such as digital organisms, in a way in which it is not mandatory, and in which the organisms must carry out the process through their own actions.
